January 1st, 3:41 am, I had an epiphany… what’s the point in going through life learning all these lessons, only to keep them to myself and not share them with the world?

I was coming out of a tough year. When the clock hit midnight, something shifted. A weight was lifted and my mind went into creative overdrive. This is how The Nick Broadhurst Show was born. You can hear more about this in episode 26, My Depression Confession.

What was coming through at that moment was a clear message that it was time for me to share me with the world. But if I was going to do it, it had to be nothing but 100% raw, real and radically honest. Unfiltered. The world doesn’t need a podcast telling you want to do… but I do believe the world can always benefit from people sharing themselves warts and all.

After-all, what was there to be afraid of? Judgment? Acceptance. Ppfff… you can get to a point in your life where that just doesn’t matter anymore. All that matters is that you are true to yourself.

The power of the simple act of sharing myself has been totally transformative. I am just 72 episodes and 4 months into The Nick Broadhurst Show, and already I am a different man. I am still me of course, but something happens when you bear yourself to the world. This may be 1 person on an Instagram story, or 1,000,000… either way, it’s not how many people hear you, it’s that you have heard yourself. When you speak your truth, it reaffirms who you are at your core. It ignites something that can only be described as soul, or source. It’s hard to put into words.

So the message of this episode is very simple… no matter where you are at in life right now. Whether you are thriving or struggling, you have something special to share with the world. And you can do this very easily. Never before has it been easier to share yourself. In just one app, Instagram, you have a serious tool of transformation. Not just for yourself but for those people who tune in to you stories. You have the power to support someone today. Something you have been through and come out of is exactly what someone else needs to hear today. It doesn’t matter what it is… it may seem small and insignificant to you, but your victories may seem out of reach for some people. And by sharing them, you have the opportunity to elevate one person, a hundred, a million. Who knows. You will never find out if you don’t try.

Now, Instagram gets a bad wrap for being this kind of fake world where only the good and shiny stuff is shown. But I ask you, why is that a bad thing? Why is celebrating the beautiful moments a bad thing? Sure you can get caught up comparing your life to that of some influencer who you have never met, but if we all showed the other side, the challenge as well as the support, then we would have a balanced view.

For the next week, I want you to try something, if it feels true to you… share something about yourself on Instagram or another channel, everyday. Use the hashtag #shareyourself and tag me @IAmNickBroadhurst so I can see it. If it feels good, keep sharing… don’t stop… see where it takes you.

You see, if I had never decided to share myself, I would never have created this episode asking you to share yourself… and what a shame that would be. To have missed the opportunity to be a catalyst for you to express your truth. Because you are freaking amazing. You are beautiful. Yes, you are perfectly imperfect, but that’s where the beauty lies, in being able to embrace both sides and not being afraid to let others really ‘see’ you.

I would love to hear from you, so please tag me @IAmNickBroadhurst on social media, and use the hashtag #TheNickBroadhurstShow, or leave me a comment below (I read every single one!). And if you could take a minute to leave me a review (5 stars would be epic, but whatever feels true for you) on iTunes I would be very grateful. Tell me what you want more of! I am at your service.
